Lincoln College Going for Gold

College Success in Going for Gold
Lincoln College has become the first and only college in Lincolnshire to achieve the prestigious new Gold Status by Investors in People - the national quality standard awarded to organisations which demonstrate best practice people management and development.

The college first reached Investors in People status in 1995, but can now boast the Gold Award – placing it amongst only 4 other colleges across the county. The accreditation encompasses all three campus sites of Lincoln, Newark and Gainsborough and the colleges work with four prisons: HMPs Whatton, Lincoln, Nottingham and Morton Hall.

Investors in People introduced the extended framework, which gave companies who’d already achieved the basic standard, something more challenging to aim for and to recognise those who are performing at an exceptionally high level. In order to reach Gold status, the college was required to meet a 165 of 196 standards in addition to the 39 outlined by the standard itself – a process that required interviewing employees and experiencing elements of college practice.   “This process has enabled us to bench mark our own practices against a nationally recognised standard,” says Ian Sackree, Vice Principal of Corporate Resources.   “Gaining the accreditation is a tremendous achievement and confirms that our employees are a fantastic asset to the college - their skills and commitment are key to the delivery of the college’s quality services. We are fully committed to keeping up this standard of practice and will continue to invest in our people to ensure that Lincoln College remains an organisation that performs well for both its employees and its customers.”
