Media & P R Evening September 2008

Channel Lincolnshire very kindly hosted Business Women’s Link for an evening of Media and PR on Thursday 25th September at their premises in Lincoln city centre.

Those who attended enjoyed a guided tour of the new on-line TV company and had a chance to practice their interview techniques – with colleagues acting as camera and sound crew, as well as interviewers. They also had the opportunity to see how videos are edited and sound bites added.

Danielle from Langleys and Kate from Shooting Star PR both coped very well with the interrogations their colleagues put them through on camera! There was then time to see how interviews are edited and prepared for release and some finished clips were seen.

Everyone then listened to a talk from Jez and Kate from Shooting Star PR, which gave some really good advice about how useful PR could be for a small business and how to maximise opportunities to promote your business with the local and national media.

Glynis Fox, Business Editor of the Lincolnshire Echo then talked about about how the Business Pages were produced and how to give your news story the best chance of being seen in print.  Examples were given of how not to write a press release and how to make it relevant for the target audience.

A glass of wine rounded up the evening and members and guests had time to network.

Many thanks to all our speakers and to Channel Lincolnshire for hosting us so well.
