Great food, a fabulous speaker, a fun raffle and drinks on the terrace in the sunshine, combined to create the perfect BWL Summer Luncheon.
This year, nearly 70 people flocked to The Petwood Hotel in Woodhall Spa, where they heard speaker Sara Bird, tucked into a three-course luncheon and helped to raise £386.70 for Macmillan by supporting the bumper raffle.
Multi-talented Sara, who recently visited BWL to talk about her book Fatorexia, was welcomed back to share the ups and downs of an exciting corporate life, which has seen her working for national names such as Specsavers, Silver Cross, B&Q and Boots.
Now running her own consultancy BrubakerBird and assisting businesses needing commercial help, as well as a wellbeing foundation for obese and overweight women, along with a design-led fashion brand, Sara had lots of wisdom to impart.
Everyone was held rapt, when heard how she juggled high-flying career jobs with being a mum, especially when she re-counted some of the hairy moments along the way.
These included the time when she walked out of a boardroom meeting, intent on making a stylish exit, only to find that the door was locked and the occasion when she let off steam in a text to a boyfriend, which landed in the in-box of her employer!
